Since contact lenses began to be used routinely, about 50 years ago, experts realized that myopes claimed to see better after taking them off. Thus arose the orthokeratology, a method of correcting myopia that modifies the curvature of the eye through the fluid between the cornea and lens. The problem was that no one could sleep with your lenses, so it was not very helpful to keep contact lenses during the day to not need them at night.

But in the twenty-first century have appeared hyperpermeable gas materials that allow the passage of oxygen to the eye during sleep.
