More than 95% of the people across the globe are not satisfied with the way they look and make weight loss as their main New Year resolution. But here come the pineapple cream delicious cake and more than 70% break their resolve. Okay so we believe it’s better to be late than never and we try to start again with one of the highly publicized diet programs like Atkin, South Beach of GM. Most of these weight loss diets advocate low carbohydrates which people like me are unable to maintain for a longer periods of time.

But here is one diet that has not only proved to be effective but had also been able to satisfy my vegetarian palette is Low Glycemic Index diet or Low GI diet. Unlike popular low carbohydrate diets that allow the dieters to eat high fats but put a restriction on their carbohydrate intakes, GI allows the user to eat everything in moderation.

Low GI diet which is gaining popularity was first introduced in early 70’s to assist diabetes patients in controlling blood sugar levels. A greater emphasis is put on eating fruits and food which lies on a low GI and are rich sources of fibres and roughage that also helps in controlling the blood sugar levels.

The diet lays focus on eating good carbs like whole grains, vegetables and fruits that help you feeling satiated for longer time period thereby promoting weight loss. A low GI diet is typically filled with fruits, vegetables and carbohydrates having higher roughage and also promotes eating of good fats rich in Omega 3 fatty acids which are present in dry fruits and nuts like walnuts.

Low GI diet with regular exercise will turn your weight loss goal into reality.
